This unique one-fairy show, based on Tim Crouch’s brilliant reimagining of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, takes audiences on an extraordinary journey through the eyes of Peaseblossom. A minor character with just five words in the original play, Peaseblossom comes alive in this captivating solo performance, offering a fresh, heartfelt, and humorous perspective on the events surrounding the Fairy King and Queen.
The production, directed by Philip Parr (York Shakespeare Festival), combines exquisite storytelling with audience interaction, smashing through the fourth wall to create a dynamic, immersive experience. Performed by Filip Krenus, co-founder of Midsummer Scene Festival and an internationally acclaimed actor, the show blends inventive theatricality with engaging improvisation.Visual magic is created by Zdenko Bašić, one of Southeastern Europe’s most celebrated video artists, whose stunning animations are paired with live shadow puppetry for an enchanting multimedia experience. Costume design is by Roberto Surace, a Drama Desk Award nominee, known for his intricate and expressive creations, while Joseph Herscher of Joseph’s Machines lends his engineering brilliance to craft imaginative stage effects.
This innovative retelling of Shakespeare’s classic invites audiences to see the Bard’s work through a mischievous, magical lens—an unforgettable encounter with the world of fairies, mortals, and a story full of surprises.
