In Shakespeare’s darkly terrifying romantic fairy tale, King Leontes falls into a jealous rage, threatening his wife, Queen Hermione, with death by fire for something she actually hasn’t done. Time brings a terrible cost until a miracle is wrought by a long-lost Princess who brings love and healing into a wounded world.
Shakespearea’s original playscript is translated into accessible, modern language by playwright Tracy Young, adapted and directed by Lisa Wolpe, and performed by a talented ensemble of eleven international actors.
The Winter’s Tale is produced by Prague Shakespeare Company and presented by the Verona International Shakespeare Fringe Festival with additional support from the Hitz Foundation and Play On Shakespeare.
